Excel by Eagle
America's lighting control cabinet. Built to spec.

Excel Control Products designs and manufactures the lighting control cabinets, lighting load centers, service points, and service pedestals that keep America's roadways, tollways, parking facilities, downtowns, parks, and municipal grids reliably lit. UL 508A listed. Build America Buy America compliant. Built in Grayslake, Illinois.
In 2026, Excel joined the Eagle Traffic Control family, becoming Eagle's sister manufacturing brand for lighting control and custom control panel work.
Excel specializes in one job above all others. We build the cabinets that turn on the lights. Lighting control cabinets in Illinois. Lighting load centers in Florida and Massachusetts. Service points in Indiana. Service pedestals in California. The names change as you cross state lines. The work is the same. The standard for that work is Excel.
We are one of the country's largest manufacturers of lighting control cabinets and the largest in the Midwest. Electrical contractors and municipalities call us when the project is complex, the timeline is real, and the specification is not negotiable. Our typical job is not a single panel. It is a coordinated build for a streetscape, a tollway corridor, a parking facility, a municipal grid, or a roadway expansion where every cabinet has to work the first time and every time.
One discipline, mastered for 39 years.
What we build.
Lighting Control Cabinets, Load Centers, Service Points, and Service Pedestals
The core of what we do. UL 508A listed cabinets for roadway, parking, expressway, tollway, municipal, and subdivision lighting applications. Engineered and assembled to specification, from low-amperage residential applications to the highest-amperage installations on the grid. Different regions use different names for the same family of products. We build them all to the same Excel standard.
Custom Control Panels
Design-build panels for power distribution, CCTV and surveillance, festoon and receptacle cabinets, festival and band-shell power, portable power systems, and industrial control automation. Short runs and long-term production. Built around your specification, not ours.
Receptacle Bollards and Power Carts
Custom receptacle bollards for downtown streetscapes, farmers markets, band shells, and holiday light shows. Portable power carts with local disconnect, fuses, GFCI receptacles, and pin-and-sleeve connection. If you can dream it, we can build it.
Design-build, not just manufacture.
Excel is a design-build manufacturer. That means we start at the engineering stage, not the assembly line. Our team produces the AutoCAD wiring diagrams, full submittal packages, and shop drawings for every project. We size the components, source the parts, and build the cabinet to specification in our Grayslake, Illinois manufacturing facility. We ship turnkey. The electrical contractor installs in the field. If something is wrong, we go to the field and we fix it. Every Excel product is backed by a two-year warranty.
We do not compete on price. We compete on engineering rigor, the quality of the components inside the cabinet, and the fact that our work performs on day one and on day three thousand.
Built for contractors. Trusted by municipalities.
Roughly four out of five Excel projects come from electrical contractors specifying lighting control cabinets for municipal, DOT, and commercial work. The remaining share comes directly from municipalities, departments of transportation, and public agencies sourcing replacement panels for existing lighting infrastructure. Whether you are a contractor pricing a corridor lighting bid or a city engineer replacing a service point that has reached end of life, Excel is built to be the easy answer.
Quality is the spec.
BABA compliant. Build America, Buy America Act.
UL 508A listed. Every cabinet, every order.
Approved across multiple state DOT QPLs.
The components inside an Excel cabinet are not a surprise. We use Square D, Eaton, and Siemens. We do not substitute to win on price. Our wiring is hand-trained, neatly bundled, and correctly terminated by technicians who have been doing this work for years. Every cabinet leaves Grayslake inspected and UL 508A listed by Underwriters Laboratories, which means the product has been independently certified for safety and reliability.
Excel is BABA compliant under the Build America, Buy America Act, which matters when federal funding is involved and increasingly matters in any procurement that touches public infrastructure. Excel products are also on qualified product lists across multiple state Departments of Transportation, and our team works directly with each jurisdiction to meet its custom specifications.
Three generations. One standard.
Excel was founded in 1988 by Jim Bartus, a second-generation member of Chicagoland's electrical industry. His sons, Andrew and Chris, run daily operations today. Three generations of the same family in the same business creates something procurement teams notice. Continuity. The people who answer the phone, engineer the panel, and wire the cabinet have been doing it together for years and plan to keep doing it for years more. That kind of through-line is rare in American manufacturing. It is the reason a contractor calling Excel in 2026 gets the same standard of work they got calling Excel in 1996.
Backed by Eagle. Connected by Viant.
In 2026, Excel joined Eagle Traffic Control Systems, America's oldest and largest manufacturer of traffic signals and cabinets. Eagle and Excel are both members of the Viant Traffic Solutions federation, a national network of American mobility infrastructure companies. What this means for the customer is straightforward. The Excel team, the Excel workmanship, and the Excel relationship are unchanged. What is new is the manufacturing depth of Eagle standing behind every order and the national distribution reach of Viant connecting Excel to projects from coast to coast.
